I begin this blog with a prayer to Lord Ganesha, the elephant headed god who is traditionally worshipped at the beginning of all endeavors to remove obstacles.

I am so very excited about this trip, and about writing this blog, and yet in all my enthusiasm I still have many concerns about my travels and my ability to adequately write about my experiences. I ask of Ganesha to remove all obstacles inner and outer, and to bless this trip.

Jai Ganesha

Praise be to elephant-faced Ganesha, the Incomprehensible One with a sharp tusk, three eyes and capacious belly, King of all beings, the Eternal One of blood-red hue, Whose forehead is illuminated by the new moon, Son of Siva-Shakti, Remover of all difficulties. Ganesha sharanam, sharanam Ganesha.
